ACCE Business Incubation Center (BIC) is designed to foster economic development and growth of the Southeast Queens Community. Our overarching goals are: a) to train and provide support networks for disadvantaged inner-city youth and young adults to become entrepreneurs and business owners; b) to train Ex-cons / the Unemployable returning from prison not only integrate into mainstream society, but to own and operate their businesses; thus, making these once troubled youth the vehicles for rebuilding and revving their respective communities. c) to help mobilize community resources to create community-based and community-owned / operated financial institutions to meet the needs of local residents and businesses. Currently, ACCE is a sponsor to the formation of the proposed Southeast Queens Federal Credit Union. We expect this Credit Union to be up and running by the end of 2015 or early 2016.
We are looking to complete renovations of the upper level of our current facility by the end of 2015 to begin the Job Readiness Program. In anticipation of computer training program, we have purchased 15 lap tops replete with interactive academic and professional software.
Our computer training program will run in conjunction with our entrepreneur and job readiness programs. The combined programs will run two days a week including the morning sessions from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and the evening sessions from 6:30 – 8:30 PM to accommodate both the unemployed and the employed.
Leadership And Youth Development
The program also offers workshops in public speaking, conflict resolution, leadership development, and team-work. The goal is to groom the next generation of leaders for both the public and private sectors.
